There are things in our lives that we can only learn through experiencing. There are things that we can only learn through going through a series of actions or steps that together produce and end result.
These many distinct steps are the things that help us grow. Often, our growth doesn't happen the moment we make a decision, it happens in the moments after we make a decision and the steps of the process challenge us, and we stay in. What has us step out of the process is either the belief that there shouldn't be a process (that it the end results should be easy and instantaneous), or that the process should be linear (that we should know exactly what to expect and that we should be getting better and things should be getting easier with each step).
Growth is not instantaneous. Transformation is not linear. When we can be strong enough to let go and trust the process, we can honor the many parts of it. We give ourselves the choice to stay in when obstacles arise, as we can remember we don't need to process to be fast or easy. This is where the best learning is, the type that no one else can teach you, and that no one else can take away from you.
