For most of of the choices and decisions we are hesitating on making out of resistance, it is important for us to see that we could totally live with the downside if it didn't work out. Meaning we could handle the experience of failure or not looking good. We could likely recover from most losses incurred. There is of course a line to draw, and it is important for us to know what that line is for us- this is how we assess appropriate risk.
Way too often we focus on what could go wrong when we are looking to make a choice, and we fail to see all the wonderful things that could happen, and could only happen, if we make the choice to say yes to what is calling to us. We tend to let the fear of the uncomfortable keep us from the possibility of fulfillment. The moments when we feel the pull to back off from something that has a relatively low risk, simply because we are focusing on the completely survivable things that could go wrong, are the moments to realize that we are prioritizing comfort and fear over possibility.
Our work is to focus on what is possible first. Possibility only exists in the unknown. When we commit our lives to taking appropriate risks on behalf of possibility, we can serve and grow at our highest levels.
