You’ve never lived this day before.
The most irresponsible thing you can do is treat this day like it doesn’t matter because you already know what it is going to be like.
No matter what you have planned for today, there are only two things that are certain. First, your whole life has led you to this day. Second, you might not get another day, and you certainly won’t get this day back.
Every single moment of today is an opportunity to be responsible, to respond. To listen, to feel, and to look for the unique thing to do or say (or not do or say) that is really needed or possible in the now.
Instead of thinking that you are already supposed to know how to do things today, why not try considering that there is no possible way you could ever know in advance what to do today, because you have never been here before? Don’t take yourself out of your potential today by looking for ways that you can play it safe, stay on the surface, or reproduce or avoid the past.
You were given the profound gift of being able to choose. If you treat today like it is the same as yesterday, you are forsaking that gift. Remember to treat each moment today like the gift that it is.
